The secret of every great wine lies in the terroir from which it comes. The Casa Benna vineyards, spread over 11 hectares, are rooted in variable and extraordinary soils. In Castell’Arquato, a Geological Museum bears witness to the ancient history of our lands and the Piacenza area.
Our vineyards, cultivated on ferrettized clays, give the wines a unique complexity. Every centimeter of soil tells a story of geological changes and natural interactions. The pedological diversity of the Piacenza hills allows us to apply the French concept of “cru”, separating the grapes to best enhance each type of soil.
The south-east position, the altitude and the microclimate contribute to the quality of the grapes, ensuring maturity and balance. Each row is cared for with respect and attention, listening to and understanding the needs of the land.
At Casa Benna, we avoid the use of herbicides and manage the inter-row with mechanical processes such as mowing or digging, adapting them to the climate. By not irrigating the vineyards, we take a considered approach to making the most of the moisture in the subsoil.
