Description

L’Attacco Emilia I.G.T. Rosso is the expression of a modern and sustainable viticulture in the Colli Piacentini hills. The result of meticulous selection, it is crafted from a blend of Merlot Kanthus—a PIWI grape variety resistant to fungal diseases—with Barbera and Croatina.
This innovative choice allows for a drastic reduction in vineyard treatments, respecting the environment without compromising quality.

Intense ruby red with violet reflections, it reveals a complex bouquet on the nose, with spicy notes and aromas of ripe black fruits.
On the palate, it is smooth, round, and enveloping, with velvety tannins and balsamic nuances that enhance its balance.

L’Attacco represents a new generation of wines, where sustainability and territorial identity coexist in perfect harmony.
It pairs beautifully with rich and structured dishes, but is also ideal for those seeking a refined, authentic red wine that rises to the challenges of the future.

The vinification of L’Attacco begins with the manual harvesting of grape clusters, carefully placed in small crates to preserve their integrity.

After destemming and crushing, the must ferments for about 10 days at a controlled temperature, with periodic pump-overs to enhance the extraction of color and structure.

This is followed by a 6-month aging period in stainless steel tanks, combined with partial maturation in Slavonian oak barrels for 4 months, which adds balance and aromatic complexity.

After bottling, the wine undergoes an additional 4 months of bottle aging before being released to the market.

“PIWI” is a German acronym meaning “grape varieties that are not susceptible to fungal vine diseases”, particularly downy and powdery mildew. This new family includes over 30 so-called “resistant” grape varieties, which require minimal pesticide treatments. They are developed by crossing a parent vine from a traditional (vitis vinifera) variety with a wild vine, which contributes the resistance traits. Merlot Kanthus, like its sibling Korus, has Merlot as its primary parent—one of the most renowned and appreciated grape varieties. When choosing the name for this wine, we remained in the realm of music. Just as “L’Attacco” marks the entrance of an instrument or soloist after a moment of silence, so this wine represents the debut of a new style, made possible by a PIWI variety designed to significantly reduce the environmental impact typically associated with traditional vineyards.
